This is to respectfully petition to bring back red gowns for Confirmation. The 8th grade class feels the use
of the red gowns set us apart from the rest of the confirmation candidates in the community as SMM is one
of the few schools to use them. We feel the gowns do not take away from the Sacred Rite but rather bring
us together in a uniform way to enter the church together as we humbly started our journey into the
church. We wore Baptismal Gowns and we looked forward to the tradition SMM has upheld through our
entire faithful journey at SMM. We have seen multiple classes through this journey and we have looked up
to their reverence. The gowns are not the meaning of our Confirmation, but they hold a special value to us
as we are each embarking on this journey together as one Community of 8th graders to enter the
Community of SMM as an adult to the church. In fact, Saint Margaret also advertises special use of gowns on their Sacramental section of the Website.
The gowns are a symbol of our religious journey and a staple to our SMM community. They dont represent our faith, we represent our faith. But they do humble us as we enter the church as adults and embark on our new faith journey as adults.
If you feel the same and hope to see this tradition upheld for our community, please consider signing this petition. I will present it to Father Bill in an effort to show the support the community has for this righteous tradition.
If you want us to advertise this petition on Google and Facebook to those people who may be interested, please donate.
