Mary G Montgomery High School Football Stadium was approved by the Board of Commissioners to name the stadium E S GRIDER MEMORIAL STADIUM. The proclamation was approved on August 27, 1980 Principal Lloyd Black signed the paperwork and it was given the name. On Friday September 30 without a vote or the families knowledge MCPSS iwanting to name the football stadium Charles Leveritt Stadium. Mr Leverett and E S Grider were friends and did serve on the stadium committee together but it was E S GRIDER that gather volunteers, worked countless hours in the concession stands to help raise the funds so that MGM can have a place to play ball then and today. There are members of the Grider family who have graduated from this school, who are currently students in this school and who will be future students of this school. The Grider family is still very much connected to the school as well as the members of the family participants in school events and sports at this school. Please sign our petition to stop the removal of the GRIDER name from the stadium. Lets all work together to keep E S Griders hard work and dedication living on for the family through this selfless memorial at the school. The Grider- Leverett Memorial Stadium is a nice suggestion in order to honor both hard working men.
