At Princeton Community Middle School the administrators think it is a good idea for us to have assigned seats at lunch. Here’s just a few reason why this is a very bad idea. Many students are shy and don’t like to talk to people they aren’t comfortable with, principals think this will help make new friends but it’s the complete opposite and can cause some people to even panic because they don’t know anyone. Next, it’s will help the number of fight go down. If we get to sit where ever we can move our selves away from drama and fights. Last year when we had assigned seats there were many fights, arguments and a lot of conflict. Also, this is our 1 break a day from an 8 hour school day and many kids that do after school sports and/ or 0 bell can have a school day up to 10 hours. At lunch we can socialize and talk to people we know which can free up stress and nerves. There are many kids that don’t have hardly any of their friends in their classes, so lunch could be their one time to see them. Lastly, covid isn’t as big of a risk anymore so if we are sitting in assigned seats for contact tracing then why isn’t there be bigger measures taken? for example, enforcing mask and/or social distancing.
